Near the end of fall, I became somewhat obsessed with the idea of layering a pinafore dress over a long-sleeved turtleneck or blouse. So, naturally, I was over the moon when my mom gifted me this beautiful, dusty mauve version from Topshop for Christmas.
This piece is so versatile. I’ll definitely be wearing it into spring, pairing it with a plain tee as the weather begins to warm. For now, I’m really loving the contrast of a billowy, cream blouse against the velvet material of the pinafore. A long neck bow adds a touch of dimension to the overall look. This one came attached to the shirt I’m wearing in the picture, but is removable, and I’m considering pairing it with other blouses I own, too!
My mom, who is always spot-on when it comes to styling outfits, also surprised me with these sassy, cut-out tights (also from Topshop) to go with the dress. She did a great job picking them out, as the tights add such a playful, fun element to the look.
As for outerwear, I don’t think you can go wrong with a camel coat at this time of year. I wanted to wear something more fitted over the dress to keep things sleek and classy.
If you’re interested in treating yourself to a pinafore, I highly recommend Topshop’s selection. They’ve got a variety of styles, colors, and textures to choose from. Although the tights I wore were no longer in stock on Topshop’s website, I found another supplier that carries them, which I’ve linked below. I’ve tried to find similar items (at similar or lower price points) for any other pieces that I’ve either had in my closet for some time or are no longer available.
How would you style a pinafore dress?
