For anyone searching for the perfect dry shampoo, I’m here to share with you something that will change your life: No Drought by Lush Cosmetics. I have tried so many brands of dry shampoos, and I’m telling you, this formula has proved itself to be among the best.
If you have not yet heard of Lush Cosmetics, here’s a snapshot of the company: Lush actively fights against animal testing, is paving the way for minimal, environmentally friendly packaging and uses fresh, 100% vegetarian components in their products. They choose ingredients that are sustainably harvested and that positively impact the communities where they are sourced. On top of it all, each product is handmade in some way. I have a friend who works for the company, and she confirms that yes, there are actual, happy people cutting up lemons and limes in their production facility. How neat!
So, other than the fact I’m supporting a company that has great integrity, (and that I am not applying random chemicals out of an aerosol can dangerously close to my brain), I love this dry shampoo because it works.
It comes in a soft plastic bottle that travels well. The cap works like that of a lotion bottle, snaps to open and close, and has a small dispenser hole. The powder itself is extremely fine, made primarily of cornflower. It blends into hair almost immediately after it is rubbed into the scalp. Even if too much is accidentally poured on, a quick brush through the hair disperses the powder.
Since the powder is absorbed after applied, hair doesn’t feel sticky or hardened by the product. It can build up a little if used liberally over several days, but it is not uncomfortable, and certainly isn’t noticeable to anyone but the user. It becomes invisible in dark or light hair (I have had both!), and works on most hair types.
I wash my hair about every three days or so, and I use this one or two times in between. A large bottle lasts me about seven or eight months. My routine generally incorporates me “poofing” this on before bed or before my morning workout to absorb any excess oil. It can be used at any time of the day, though, and is invigorating thanks to the citrus oils in the powder. Even just a little bit of the product adds volume and makes my fine strands extremely easy to tease and poof. I get so many more compliments on my hair on days I dry wash it!
