Being home for weeks on end has given me some serious one-on-one time with my bare face. I almost always wear makeup, and by the time I am done with my day and go through the regimen of taking it all off, I am usually too inclined for rest to stop to study what my actual skin looks like underneath. I wake up, put on another myriad of creams, and then on goes the foundation.
All things exposed, I can shamelessly report that I have rather dull skin. I am in my late twenties and have two small children who despise sleep, so it should have come as no surprise that my foundation has been hiding uneven patches on my cheeks and growing blue circles under my eyes. This discovery, along with the increase in fine lines on my forehead, prompted me to look for some extra defense against the inevitable effects of age and sleep deprivation.
I found some assistance in the glass container that is the Ordinary’s 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder. I haven’t dabbled in topical vitamin C before, so this is something completely new to my skincare routine.
While many topical acids come in an individually wrapped cube, this particular version comes as a loose powder. It is fine and gritty to the touch, but when combined with water or another serum or oil, it forms a smooth paste. I use it before bed as it can leave a slight white film on the face, depending on what it is mixed with. Due to its potency, the container warns of a slight tingling caused by the acid, a sensation I find to be lessened when combined with an oil-based substance.
I am quite impressed with the effectiveness of this product. After the first application, my pores were immediately tighter. After two weeks of use, the effects were dramatized; my forehead noticeably smoother, a renewed brightness in the skin on my cheeks. I will certainly be keeping this in my regimen.
