Whether found at a gift shop close to my hometown or from the places I’ve traveled to, my favorite pieces of jewelry are usually crafted by independent, local artists. I find those pieces to be so unique, and it’s wonderful to support small businesses, knowing that my money is going to someone who’s put time and effort into their passion.
Recently, I’ve fallen in love with the work of Bird’s Tail Jewelry, created by an independent jewelry artist who is located right here in southeastern Wisconsin. Her designs are simple, sophisticated, and fit my personal aesthetic to a tee. Just look at these earrings!
I’ve always adored earrings, and this pair is one of the best in my collection. They are both dainty and dramatic, and they work equally well for casual days or a fancy night out. One detail I love in particular are the flat, coin-shaped links that make up these earrings, which add a very modern touch.
Although I’m not sure what the original price was (my mom gave them to me for Christmas), it appears that Bird’s Tail Jewelry earrings typically cost about $35 to $48. While that’s not a small price, it is beyond reasonable for the quality of these earrings and the fact that they’re handmade. They also look and feel way more expensive than they are.
Then there’s this gorgeous, mixed-metal necklace: the Moon Goddess Lariat (LOVE the name)! Lariat-style necklaces are very trendy right now, but I don’t think this will ever go out of style. Lariat necklaces are flattering on everyone because of the way they elongate and draw attention to your neck. I love that it is composed of gold and silver, a combination I’ve never been too keen on in the past, but it truly works here.
Bird’s Tail Jewelry has a variety of lariat necklaces on its website, as well as some other styles that I have my eye on. This particular piece is $64 and worth every penny. It is SO luxurious, and I honestly feel you’d be hard pressed to find a necklace that beats this quality in a high-end jewelry store. Although earrings are my favorite type of jewelry, this necklace has quickly become my favorite piece that I own.
If you’re interested in investing in a high-quality, stylish necklace or pair of earrings, do check out Bird’s Tail Jewelry! And, if you happen to live in Wisconsin, consider stopping in one of the stores that carry their pieces–I’ve noticed that there’s more styles available in-store, and it will give you a chance to see how beautiful they are for yourself!
